Pelvic Floor Exercises (Kegel Exercises)
Every woman should incorporate Kegel exercises into their routine to maintain pelvic floor health. By combining these exercises with VTone treatment, you can enhance the effectiveness, leading to even greater improvements in muscle strength and control in the pelvic floor. VTone provides additional support and re-education of the pelvic muscles, complementing regular Kegel exercises.
What is VTone?
VTone is a gentle, non-surgical, FDA-cleared technology designed to provide intravaginal electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and neuromuscular re-education. The VTone applicator aids in the rehabilitation of weak pelvic floor muscles, offering a solution for the treatment of stress, urge, and mixed urinary incontinence in women. By stimulating and re-educating the muscles, VTone helps restore strength and functionality to the pelvic floor, improving overall pelvic health.
Downtime:
No downtime
Duration:
30 minutes
Over time the female anatomy evolves due to multiple factors:
- Pregnancy
- Childbirth
- Hormonal transformations
- Menopause
Inevitably, the pelvic floor is negatively impacted leading to:
- Pelvic floor weakness
- Vaginal prolapse
- Incontinence
Types of Urinary Incontinence
Stress Incontinence
- Urine leaks when pressure is exerted on the bladder by actions such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, exercising, or lifting heavy objects.
Urge Incontinence
- A sudden, intense urge to urinate followed by an involuntary loss of urine. This may include frequent urges to urinate, including during the night. It can be caused by minor conditions like infections or more severe conditions such as neurologic disorders or diabetes.
Overflow Incontinence
- Frequent or constant dribbling of urine due to a bladder that does not empty completely
Mixed Incontinence
- More than one type of urinary incontinence
Overview of the VTone Procedure
The VTone procedure is straightforward and patient-friendly:
- Consultation: You will have an initial consultation with Dr. Sharon Li to discuss your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. This ensures the treatment plan is tailored to your specific needs. Please ensure you obtain a GP referral prior to your initial consultation.
- Procedure: The VTone applicator is gently inserted into the vaginal canal. It emits electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), which promotes muscle contractions and neuromuscular re-education. This helps in strengthening and rehabilitating the pelvic floor muscles.
- Combination Treatment: Dr. Sharon Li recommends combining VTone with FormaV to enhance firmness, muscle strength, and circulation within the pelvic floor area. The combined procedures result in increased blood flow in the treated area, which may increase the benefits. We recommend that you engage in pelvic floor exercises at home to maximise benefits.
- Duration: Each VTone session lasts approximately 30 minutes. Depending on your specific needs, a series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results.
Benefits of VTone
- Non-Invasive: No surgery or incisions are involved.
- Comfortable: The procedure is generally pain-free and does not require anesthesia.
- Effective: Clinically proven to improve pelvic muscle strength and reduce symptoms of urinary incontinence, especially when combined with pelvic floor exercises.
- Quick: Sessions are short, typically around 30 minutes, making it easy to fit into your schedule.
Downtime and Recovery
VTone treatment requires no downtime. After the procedure, you can immediately resume your daily activities.
We recommend 6 sessions as one course of treatment, but the number of required sessions may vary between patients.

VTone FAQs
VTone is powered through the Empower RF platform by InMode. The treatment is a highly effective and non-invasive treatment that helps to tone and train muscles of the pelvic floor. During a VTone treatment a two-sided tip is inserted quickly and comfortably into the vaginal canal to trigger involuntary muscle contractions. These contractions tone and tighten the pelvic floor muscles, targeting the muscle fibers that have become weakened or overstretched during pregnancy and childbirth.
VTone is recommended for any women who wish to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles. At your initial consultation, Dr Sharon Li will complete an assessment to ensure you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. We recommend obtaining a GP referral, as this allows Dr Li to access information regarding your general health, past medical history and suitability for the treatment.
A consultation fee is charged after your appointment; however, your GP referral will allow our receptionists to claim your Medicare rebate for this payment. Please contact us directly on 07 3219 6868 for more information or to secure an appointment.
After your initial consultation, Dr Li will customise a treatment program unique for you. While a single pelvic floor treatment will likely provide mild benefits, for optimal results, we recommend 6-8 treatments of VTone over a 3 month period.
