Naturalis PRP

Naturalis PRP Brisbane

What is Naturalis PRP?

Naturalis PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a regenerative procedure that may support vaginal and vulval tissue health by using your body’s own natural components. The treatment involves drawing a small sample of your blood, which is then processed in a centrifuge to isolate platelet-rich plasma (PRP)—a concentration of growth factors naturally found in your blood.

This PRP is then gently injected into targeted areas, with the aim of supporting tissue quality, hydration, and elasticity over time. Some women seek this treatment to explore non-hormonal, non-surgical options for managing symptoms such as dryness, sensitivity changes, or discomfort.

The procedure takes approximately 45–60 minutes (including preparation) and is performed by Dr Sharon Li in a private clinical setting.

If you are considering Naturalis PRP in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, you are welcome to contact our clinic to book a consultation with Dr Li to discuss whether this treatment may be suitable for your needs.

What Can I Expect from the Procedure?

Naturalis PRP is performed by Dr Sharon Li following an individual consultation. On the day of the procedure, please shower using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser before arriving.

A numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area approximately 30 minutes prior to the procedure to help minimise discomfort.

A small sample of your blood is then collected and processed in a centrifuge to isolate platelet-rich plasma. This concentrated PRP is gently injected into selected vaginal or vulval areas, depending on your symptoms and treatment goals.

Please drink plenty of water before arriving to assist with blood collection and overall comfort.

The entire appointment, including numbing time and blood collection, generally takes around 45 to 60 minutes. Discomfort during the procedure is usually minimal, and most women resume light daily activities shortly afterwards.

How Might Naturalis PRP Work?

Platelet-rich plasma contains growth factors that may support the body’s natural repair processes. When injected into specific areas, PRP may assist in stimulating collagen production, supporting tissue hydration, and enhancing local circulation.

While some women report improvements in comfort and sensitivity, more clinical research is needed to confirm the effectiveness of PRP in this context.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

To help ensure your comfort and support the effectiveness of the procedure, please follow these steps when preparing for your appointment:

  • Avoid booking the procedure during your menstrual period. Treatment should be scheduled at a time when you are not bleeding.

  • Shower on the day of your appointment using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser.

  • Do not apply any creams, oils, or powders to the vulval area before your appointment.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing for comfort after the procedure.

  • Eat and drink as normal unless otherwise instructed.

If you are feeling unwell or have any signs of infection (such as a urinary tract infection, vaginal discharge, or fever), please contact the clinic before your appointment so we can assess whether a reschedule is needed.

What Can I Expect After the Treatment?

After the procedure, you may experience mild swelling, tenderness, or spotting for 24–48 hours. These effects are generally temporary and resolve without the need for medication.

To support healing, we recommend avoiding the following for at least 48 hours:

  • Sexual activity

  • Tampon use

  • Swimming or spa baths

  • Heavy or high-impact exercise

Most women can return to light daily activities on the same day. A follow-up appointment may be suggested to review your progress.

Who May Consider Naturalis PRP?

This treatment may be considered by women experiencing:

Vaginal and Vulval Symptoms

  • Local dryness or irritation

  • Discomfort related to tissue thinning

  • Pain or discomfort during intimacy

  • Reduced natural lubrication

  • General discomfort affecting the vaginal or vulval area

Sexual Function Concerns

  • Changes in comfort or sensitivity during intimacy

  • Difficulty with arousal

  • Reduced sexual interest

Please note: PRP is not a proven treatment for sexual dysfunction. While some early studies suggest it may support local tissue health, more evidence is required to understand its full effects on sexual function.

Bladder Function

  • Mild stress urinary leakage (such as small leaks when coughing, sneezing, or exercising)

Potential Benefits

  • Minimally invasive, in-clinic procedure

  • No general anaesthetic required

  • Uses your body’s own blood components

  • May support tissue hydration, elasticity, and sensitivity

  • Little to no downtime – most women resume normal activity shortly after

  • Some women report gradual improvements over several weeks

Individual results vary. Dr Li will assess your suitability during your consultation.

PRP in Fertility and Gynaecology

PRP is also being explored in other areas of reproductive and gynaecological health. These applications are currently under investigation and are not considered standard treatment. They include:

PRP IUI for Endometrial Receptivity

A small volume of PRP (usually 3–5 mL) may be infused into the uterus via an IUI catheter, typically 48 hours before embryo transfer. This technique is being studied for its potential to support endometrial development.

Intra-Ovarian PRP Injections

PRP is also under investigation for possible use in women with reduced ovarian function. Research into its safety and efficacy is ongoing.

Aftercare Instructions

To support your recovery and outcomes, we recommend the following:

  • Avoid intercourse, tampon use, swimming, or strenuous exercise for 48 hours

  • Use only fragrance-free, pH-balanced intimate cleansers

  • Avoid douching or applying non-prescribed products

  • Light walking is fine; delay strenuous activity for three days

  • A follow-up appointment may be recommended to assess your response

When is PRP Not Suitable?

Naturalis PRP may not be recommended if you:

  • Have an active vaginal or urinary tract infection

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Have a bleeding disorder or are taking anticoagulant medication

  • Are undergoing treatment for certain gynaecological conditions

Suitability will be assessed on an individual basis during your consultation.

Cost and Consultation

The cost of Naturalis PRP varies based on individual treatment needs and whether other therapies are also recommended.

Dr Sharon Li requires an initial consultation to assess your concerns and medical history. This includes a physical examination and discussion of your treatment goals. A referral from your GP is required to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to your care.

Following your consultation, you will receive a detailed quote tailored to your individual treatment plan. Patients must be aged 18 years or older to proceed.

Types of PRP Treatments in Fertility and Gynaecology

This technique involves infusing a small volume of PRP (usually 3–5 mL) into the uterine cavity via an IUI catheter, typically 48 hours before embryo transfer. The aim is to improve the thickness and receptivity of the endometrium, potentially supporting implantation.

PRP is injected directly into the ovaries to stimulate tissue repair and cellular activity. This approach may assist in improving ovarian function and follicular development, particularly in women with diminished ovarian reserve or poor ovarian response.

This treatment is designed to address a range of concerns including Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD), Vulvovaginal Atrophy (VVA), and Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). By promoting healing and supporting healthy tissue function, PRP may contribute to improved comfort, confidence, and quality of life.
